Mayor Berget had served as a council member since August of 1994 and was elected Mayor in November of 1997. Tony was born and raised in Libby, graduated from Libby High School, spent one year in Brazil with the AFS Program and than attended Montana State University. Tony and and his wife Deanna lived in Pocatello, Idaho, and Seattle, Washington but decided to return to Libby to raise their family. They have two boys and a girl. Tony describes Libby as the "last best place"!
Libby's Prosperity As we enter quite possibly the most difficult time in Libby's history when each of is being touched by forces beyond our control we must fight back and take our future in our own hands for the decisions ahead of us are our own. We must look back to learn from our past and keep it close to us as we look forward to our future, Prosperity for Libby can happen only when all of us in this community have set our hearts in that direction and have contributed the energy necessary to bring that condition about. Libby will be prosperous in reality when every one of us has assumed our share of civic responsibility.
Community progress means... This progress can not come from any single effort. Every one of
us in Libby in every way must strive for the betterment of the community we
love. Let us all have the courage, energy, enterprise and patriotic
service to make Libby an example and inspiration to other communities
around the world. Libby needs you to find even the smallest way to make her shine.
Please keep a positive out look and find random acts of kindness to make
our home " a community of Heart". Let us make our town more than a mere plot of ground on which we live.
Let us work diligently toward what Libby can be. Then, with all of
us working together, "the ideal community" will inevitably be the comment
whenever the name of "Libby" is mentioned. Libby Mayor |
